Ministries

Our outreach to people throughout the world has always been strong; as is witnessed in our dedicated giving to Neighbors in Need, One Great Hour of Sharing, Veterans of the Cross, Our Church's Wider Mission, the Lakota Mission, sponsoring a child in Israel, serving food at a homeless shelter, participation in the Food Pantry among others.

All Church Fellowship helps to raise funds to support One Great Hour of Sharing, blankets for Church World Service, campships for our youth, Seminary Scholarship Fund, Neighbors in Need, Jasper County Care Facility, Willowbrook Adult Day Care Center, Church Women United, Salvation Army, Iowa Peace Institute, St. Louis Neighborhood Houses and the Elk Horn Hill Church (Lakota Mission).  The All Church Fellowship (Service Corps & Outreach Workgroup) maintains the kitchen, organizes coffee time following worship services, and organized soup suppers and dinner which give the church a sense of fellowship with friends.

Food Pantry items will be collected the first two Sundays of the month.  The Salvation Army would like us to jello, puddings, and canned fruit.

Help Serve a Meal with First Christian Church the fifth Wednesday of each month.  If you would be willing to help serve a meal in Des Moines at Trinity Methodist Church, please call Carolyn Hobbs (792-2687) or Virginia at the church office (792-3773).
